Armoni’s Log
We started class with a poem, “These Skirts Are for Me.”
Then, Isaac led a class discussion, revolving around his Blog #4 post; he elaborated on Chapter 8 of The Bedford Book of Genres.
After that, I read my blog post about the chapter, which initiated a comparison of Anne Lamott’s “Shitty First Drafts” and Chapter 8. We concluded that most of us preferred reading “Shitty First Drafts” because it included a conversational tone and more personal experiences, making it relatable.
Next, Madison completed her mini presentation on a poem, resulting in a class conversation about women and societal pressures they face to conform.
Lastly, Mat introduced and explained Project 2’s Research Proposal, which is due this weekend. He ensured us that he is not implicating a strict format that we must follow. We can utilize our reading from Blog #7 as a guide to complete our Research Proposal if we want to.
He then began to elaborate on Project 2 as a whole, emphasizing that the bulk of your research is supposed to be primary research and “on the ground research.”
He made us consider the types of text our communities use and rely on, leading to another mini discussion.
He also gave us suggestions regarding our interview process.
